It was a good time. Great conversation and the food... yum! Thank you Susan.
Our next book club will be at Wanda's place on January 7th? (I must have forgotten to save the entry - did we finally settle on the 7th?) and we're reading two books:
Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali
and Murder in Amsterdam:The Death of Theo Van Gogh and the Limits of Tolerance by Ian Buruma
Other books mentioned and recommended last night were:
Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout
A Gate at the Stairs by Lorrie Moore
Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro
Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

Change of day
A reminder that next month we'll be at Susan's on Monday the 14th.
And would anyone be able to post the titles of books we talked about?
I remember Susan mentioning Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
And I forgot to mention Alice Munro's Too Much Happiness the other night. It's wonderful.

November and December
Last night we established dates, locations and books for the next couple of months.
In November we decided to read The Origin of Species by Nino Ricci. And we're planning to meet at Linda's place on November 17th.
The book for December is Be Near Me by Andrew O'Hagan. Susan will be hosting that on December 15th.

For Jo: The author of The Withdrawal Method is Pasha Malla. And Austen Clarke's new book is called More. Sorry I couldn't recall that last night.

July meeting
According to my calendar we've planned to meet at Jo's on July 28th. [Correction: July 27th is the confirmed date]. The novel is What Was Lost by Catherine O'Flynn.
There's a great web page about the novel here including an audio file of an interview with the author, a few video clips and a book club guide, among other things.
Sadly I've just also noticed that the date is during my cottage week so I'll be among the missing for this one.

It looks great- I love it.
Well, this is my very first blog experience. Thanks Marion, and well done, it looks very friendly and gracious. I am looking to having everyone over in July, I hope everyone is doing well. Susan- do you know of a Mark Heese- a big volleyball name in beach volleyball. I was pretty sure Liz would knnow him. He was a motivational speaker at a presentation at the hospital this week. Pretty amazing young man. Jane M welcome back to the hood. Jo
